Family Evening Weekend Walk

We're only together as a family of 4 on the weekends.  We've now come up with a fun thing to do in the evenings to get a little exercise, family evening weekend walks!

Two weekends ago we went and Annika jogged the entire 1.5 miles.  Then she had a meltdown about a 1/4th of a mile from home and we had to drag her the rest of the way.  That was not fun.  Plus we put Annabel in her normal stroller so Josh wasn't able to keep up with Annika and I jogging.

This last weekend we were better prepared.  We brought lots of water, Gatoraid, the single jogging stroller for Annabel (who snoozed the entire time) and our running shoes!  Annika just got some new running shoes from Target as she had outgrown her old ones (finally a size 7, she has small feet like me).   I love that we both have running shoes with hot pink on them!

We decided to head the opposite direction of last weekend's walk and to actual WALK.  I told Annika to slow down so that we were just power walking!

If you look closely at the picture you can see a tiny little Annabel foot.  The one thing I should have done was put Annika in shorts and a tee shirt.  She had already gotten like 3 outfits dirty this day so I just left her in the last dress I put her in.

It wasn't too hot outside but it was extremely humid!  There was no breeze or wind of any kind either.  We even waited until 7pm hoping that it would be cooler but it is Florida!

We did 2 full miles!  Annika walked the entire time and Annabel slept the entire time!

After we put the girls to bed Josh and I did a yoga DVD together.  I always feel a bit insecure doing yoga in a class because I am so not flexible anymore!!  I took 9 years of ballet and I can't even touch my toes!  Josh made me feel better, he can't sit "Indian Style" (I think some people call it "criss cross applesauce" but I'm sure you know what I mean).  I thought it was hilarious!  He's actually still sore today from the leg and hip stretches.

Next time I'm going to bring our camera so I can get some pictures of our walks!  And maybe take a few of each other doing some yoga moves!

  1. I love going for walks with my girls! I got a double stroller because Karina has meltdowns when she gets "tired" (code for "you aren't paying enough attention to me right now").
